I’m really enjoying Artaksiniya fashion heroes. My eyes are happy. They are such a perfect kitschy mashing of the grotesque and the fashionable, and I mean that in all ways awesome. (See also her Behance.)
I was in no mood to post this the other day, but my temper has since cooled, my good humor returned. An unedited photo of me from the Letchworth Village shoot surfaced on a classy little tumblr site called AFuckADay (VERY NSFW). Not a huge deal, I’m an art school kid, so what. But originally I was f*bomb*ing livid—not that it was online, but that it was unedited online. Regardless, I’m now taking a deep breath and feeling mildly flattered.
Also thank you my dearest Kristian for your uncanny porn radar.
Acceptance and sharing. So here’s my ass. And my nearly finished backpiece by Steve Boltz. Photo credit: Insuh Yoon
I say quick because he took about an hour to draw and another 5 hours or so in Photopshop playing around with color and texture. So…hardly a day (with lots of internet breaks)…he may need more polishing but I’m itching for the next one.

I had a photoshoot with photographers Insuh Yoon and Rick Starick and model Neon Lynxie (Alex), who is ravishing by the way. We road-tripped it to Letchworth Village, the abandoned mental institute in Rockland County, NY. It was pretty gosh-darn creepy (and cold). Alex brought the pretty. I brought the crazy.
This animation was created from 26 illustration or birds A-Z. They were colored in Photoshop and many of the layers are photographs of textures from around New York City that I took with my digital camera. The birds were created out of hundreds of layers, and the final animation was ultimately 390 unique frames (some repeated) that were each built individually. I really like the effect of piling Photoshop layers via stop motion. I think I might keep doing this with my illustrations since on average my files have at least 50 layers. It might just be fun to see how they come to life, y’know?
I will admit I’m a little bummed out about the upload quality. I’m new to non-Flah animation so I’m going to try to figure out a better quality alternative. Suggestions?
